"Code is becoming easier to write. But quality, production-ready code? That’s only getting harder to review and sustain." ~ Amar Goel, CEO & Co-Founder, Bito

Maxitech is thrilled to announce a strategic investment in Bito, a pioneer in AI-powered code review tools built for today’s fast-moving software engineering teams.

As part of Bito’s $5.7M seed extension round, which also includes Vela Partners and NextView Ventures, this partnership reflects our conviction that the future of software development depends not just on how quickly code is written but on how intelligently it’s reviewed.

Bito’s technology brings AI directly into the most overlooked, time-consuming parts of engineering work:

  • Reviewing code

  • Assessing quality

  • Identifying downstream issues

  • Suggesting precise fixes

  • All with codebase context and reasoning

This blog dives into how Bito’s approach is changing the rhythm of software delivery, why it aligns with Maxitech’s long-term strategy, and where we see this platform going next.

How Bito is Transforming Developer Workflows

“What started as putting AI chat in a developer’s IDE has blossomed into a code reviewing platform designed for big, challenging codebases. Maxitech’s investment in Bito helps us double down on evolving code reviewing agents into even smarter, agentic extensions of engineering teams.” ~ Amar Goel, CEO & Co-Founder of Bito

Founded in 2023 by Amar Goel, Anand Das, and Mukesh Agarwal, Bito set out to make AI a hands-on partner inside the development process. Their first product, Bito’s IDE Extension, became the highest-rated AI chat app in the Visual Studio Code Marketplace, used by more than 100,000 developers every month worldwide.

That early traction confirmed what the team suspected: Developers were eager for tools that could do more than autocomplete. They wanted help that was contextual, intelligent, and built to improve actual engineering workflows.

Bito’s current flagship product, AI Code Review Agent, builds on that foundation. It delivers fast, context-aware analysis using large language models like Claude Sonnet 3.7 and GPT-4o. These models allow Bito to process more than just the code in front of it. They analyze pull request diffs, code dependencies, and architecture patterns across an entire repository.

From there, the system identifies issues such as regressions, style drift, and security risks. It inserts clear suggestions into pull request comments and improves over time based on how teams respond.

“We set out to make AI part of the everyday development flow,” said Amar Goel, CEO & Co-Founder of Bito. “Not just autocomplete or code generation, but something that actually helps teams ship better code, faster and the first time.”

Why Maxitech is Investing in AI-Powered Code Quality

“AI has changed the economics of software development, but not its foundations. You can write 10x more code now, but reviewing, testing, and reasoning about that code is where the real cost and risk live. Bito’s agentic approach delivers contextual review at scale — exactly what modern teams need. We’re excited to help them build the AI infrastructure that development teams will rely on in the decade ahead.” ~ Burak Arik, CEO of Maxitech

Our investment in Bito reflects a core belief: Generative AI will reshape the full software development life cycle.

While code generation has captured much of the early spotlight, the real opportunity lies in improving the systems that support sustainable, high-quality engineering. Tasks like testing, documentation, and review are where long-term value is created.

Code review is becoming more important with every commit. Pull requests are rising fast. According to the GitHub Octoverse Report 2023, the number of pull requests per developer nearly doubled between 2020 and 2023. At the same time, Stripe’s Developer Coefficient study shows companies still lose close to $300 billion annually to debugging and maintenance.

Bito addresses these challenges by acting like a teammate inside the engineering process. It provides in-context analysis, surfaces important risks, and adapts to the needs of each team. Over time, its feedback grows more relevant and its signals more accurate.

Through this partnership, Bito will gain access to Maxitech’s enterprise network. That includes the opportunity to participate in pilot programs through Entrapeer, a platform that matches startups with large enterprises looking for cutting-edge technology solutions. These pilots are designed to help startups engage directly with decision-makers, test their tools in real-world environments, and accelerate time to value.

This support goes far beyond capital. It provides Bito with real-world exposure, early adopter validation, and a stronger foundation for long-term growth.

Expanding AI’s Role in the Developer Workflow

In early use, Bito’s platform has already delivered meaningful results

  • 89% faster pull request merges

  • 34% fewer regressions in production

  • 87% of pull request feedback provided by Bito

  • $14 return for every $1 spent

These numbers show that AI is evolving from a developer-side productivity tool into something far more foundational. As codebases grow and engineering demands increase, teams need systems that improve code quality at scale. Bito helps them do that by speeding up feedback loops, reducing risk, and making reviews more consistent and actionable.

And this is only the beginning.

Bito is expanding beyond review to support more phases of the software lifecycle. Upcoming features will include:

  • Onboarding tools that offer context-aware walkthroughs for new developers, helping them get up to speed faster using live code from their own environment.

  • Testing recommendations powered by AI, which surface gaps and suggest targeted unit tests based on real pull request activity.

  • Architecture review capabilities that scan across repositories, detect design drift, and support better coordination across teams.

The long-term goal is to build AI that understands how systems function, not just how individual files are written. This shift will improve how developers onboard, plan, and collaborate across increasingly complex stacks.

That’s why this investment isn’t just about backing a tool. It’s about supporting a team that is pushing engineering standards forward and redefining how modern software is built and maintained.
